I was wondering if Affliction was going to pull an EliteXC and not advertise their upcoming PPV in New York City. You know, that huge market located on the east coast of the United States.
Actually, for a minute, it looked like their July 19th PPV would come and go without a single billboard hitting the streets but, alas, I am here to say that Affliction has come to Times Square (see above photo for proof).
"Considering the magnitude of this fight, and the partnership between Affliction and Donald Trump, it seemed only fitting that the huge talent pool on the 'Affliction Banned' show should be seen by millions in New York's Times Square," said Tom Atencio, Vice President, Affliction. "You know it's a big show when you have a billboard on Broadway."
I wonder if they could have pulled this off without Trump's involvement. I mean, there didn't seem to be a lot of disposable income to spare given all the money being spent on the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski. However, as expected, Trump has changed the game.
For the next two and a half weeks they'll be front and center in one of the world's busiest neighborhoods. Now we can stop focusing on their marketing techniques and focus our attention entirely on this loaded card.
